This is one of the first questions we are asked, and it’s a reasonable question. But the answer is not so straight-forward. While not intentionally trying to be vague, there is a calculation that goes into our answer. At Home Girl we estimate every project and the estimate hopes to be all-inclusive of labor, general materials, specialty materials, and any additional services that may be requested. Home Girl works with at least two organizers on all projects, and it’s not unheard of for 4-5 people to be on a larger home. Our estimates are based on how many organizers are working and the overall scope of work.
Like most professional organizers, we do have an hourly rate that is used in the estimate. Forbes recently published an article called How Much Do Professional Organizers Charge? and we were unsurprised to find that we were in line with their range, given our many years of experience and our education and specialties.
But the hourly rate doesn’t answer the question if you are not familiar with our process and speed. All of our estimates are accompanied by a schedule that outlines to you where we will be working, when, so you can follow along with our progress and know our goals for each day.
